Stories of a good God

And she felt Him by her side all week…God is good!

About a month ago I was having coffee with a friend at a coffee shop in a major shopping centre, a coffee shop I had been to about a fortnight before.

The same girl served us as had on my first visit … she was delightful, gentle and kind … and I remembered her with fondness …

I said “hello” and reminded her of the last time I was in and then happily caught up with my friend.

After our catch up, as I went to pay, I sensed that I needed to offer to pray for the girl.  As she processed our bill I asked if I could pray, explaining I was a Christian … she immediately got a bit flustered, and her hands visibly began to shake.  She responded she too was a Christian … and that yes, I could pray …

I took her hand and asked her if she was studying, was there something around her study that needed prayer?  She responded in the affirmative and instantly got teary, explaining that yes she needed prayer for a situation she was facing as a student teacher …

I prayed for her, the anointing tangible, her shaking and crying a little.

I “saw” myself kissing her forehead, as I had for others before her, and blessing her with the Father’s blessing and I asked if I could bless her and kiss her forehead … she agreed and so I did, and I gently gave her a hug at the end …

Through tears and shaking hands, apologising for hersef she gave me my credit card and I thanked her for allowing me to pray … as I left I said … “God has the solution sorted, it will be ok, otherwise He would not have told me to offer to pray or that you were a student … and I left it at that …”

About two weeks later I went to the same coffee shop.  This was a strange coincidence since I never usually go to this particular shopping centre … it is further away and although it is larger, I just never go there …

In any case, I was there with my husband who had ducked down from work to see something at a shop there and the same girl was there serving again.

We exchanged niceities, and I introduced my husband, and she then went on to say that from that day I had prayed before the sense of God’s presence had stayed with her in strong and tangible way … it had remained strong for the week that followed and she had felt great peace …

I smiled, delighted at her sense of God being with her, and her sense of it going to be ok … and she went on to tell us that she was part of a small team that had planted a church in a bayside suburb and that it had been tough.  I then sensed that she was going to need wisdom, and I felt my husband needed to pray and I asked if she was needing wisdom for some decisions to come … she did … and so I asked if my husband could pray for her, for wisdom, to which she responded with a “yes” and he did … imparting a gift of wisdom, that he walks in, to equip her for her future and the decision making process she was going through … the anointing came strongly again …

We hear from God …

We can all hear from God …

For ourselves … and for others …

Jesus said in the context of seed being cast …

… those that have ears to hear … let them hear (Mark 4:9)

Will you stop and incline your ear? And, stop to listen to the creator of the universe …

I know I miss it … but oh the rewards for hearing and stepping out, whether it be stepping out on a word for others, or a prophetic word for myself … either way … what delight to hear Him speak … for He knocks … will you let Him in to your busy life so you may see?  Will you let Him into your busy schedule so that you may hear?

If you do, I know you will see that indeed …

Chicken soup for the soul

Good news warms the heart, so, why do we so willingly repeat bad or sad news?

There was a book, or rather a series of books, that I read over ten years ago called “Chicken Soup for the Soul”. They were lovely books, celebrating the goodness of God … the goodness of people …

I had forgotten about those books, until this Wednesday, when I received a call that warmed my heart … and the idea for the title for this blog started to stir inside me … Yet, it was on Friday, when a dear and beautiful friend landed on my doorstep with a huge pot of chicken soup, that I then knew that the title of this blog had to be “chicken soup for the soul” … I needed to affirm how good news is truly good medicine to the weary, hopeless and sad …

Last Wednesday I received a phone call from my hairdresser. It was out of the blue, but I instantly knew …

She had been trying to get pregnant for some time, and I had prayed for her a number of times, (see “Receiving some sunshine … Releasing some Son-shine“).  To be honest I was a bit puzzled as to why she had not yet got pregnant … didn’t God want to show His love strength and Glory to her?

I had been back in the hairdressers just over six weeks ago, getting some “sunshine”, when my hairdresser had again confirmed “not yet…no news” and thanked me for continuing to pray …

I pondered the situation and wondered about His timing with these things as we chatted to one another happily.

Another friend, whose mother has recently died of  breast cancer was coming in to see me, in all my glory :-), at the hairdressers.  She wanted to drop off a birthday gift for my son and while doing so I knew we would catch up and she could share with me how she was travelling … I wondered again about Gods timing …

This friend had also struggled to get pregnant and had miscarried a baby.  I, with others, had prayed for her, and she had conceived her second little bundle soon after.  This second little bundle was only a few months old at the time of visiting me about six weeks ago … “Coincidence?”

H came, full of news of things she had been doing and shared how she had been coping with the recent death of her mother. It was a bitter-sweet conversation. Both of us tearing up a few times, but she shared how her family had rallied and how her faith in God and His goodness had carried her through thus far …

As we spoke I queried God and felt  a “yes” come … she was to pray for B – it was time for her to start to see God’s vindication come to pass through her and so I shared what my hairdresser B had been walking through.  She readily agreed to pray.

I shared my “idea” with B and she said she was also happy and so the two disappeared out the back …

On their return I said to H, my friend, and B, my hairdresser, that it would be just like God to activate H in her healing ministry and to see B get pregnant in the next cycle … Straight after H prayed … vindication, blessings … His goodness and grace revealed to two beautiful girls at once …

Well … good news is chicken soup to the soul … B rang last week and breathlessly said over the phone that she was six weeks pregnant, she said that our prayers had been answered, that she had called up to tell me, and to let H know too … She said that it HAD been straight after my friend H had prayed … God had started His vindication on H’s behalf and the payback had begun … And my beautiful friends both were to taste and see that God is good …

We pray … God takes vengeance on the enemy … He vindicates…

Give it away …

Give away the victory you have won … the victory you need to see … either way give it away and give Jesus His just reward … God will have vengeance (Romans 12:19) and we will see a 7-fold-return on all that has been stolen (Proverbs 6:31 and Psalm 79:12) … If we will just step out and give it away …

I believe H will also see breast cancers flee, amongst other miracles … as she steps out and prays for the sick …

The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy (Rev 19:10). The good news of the gospel … the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven is chicken soup for the soul … Filling, comforting, healing …

So, I encourage you, ask yourself:

Where do I need break through?
Where have I been victorious?
Where has there been defeat in my life?
Where do I still need break through?

Wherever it is … give it away, let God vindicate, release His vengeance on the enemy by releasing His Kingdom through your prayers for others, and you will see the seven fold return come … and as you do celebrate every victory you see whether it is your own or another’s and watch how the Spirit of the Lord comes to invade your life and fulfil your words, your prayers, your petitions, your requests …

Share your stories and let them become chicken soup for the soul for those that need the break through, that need the encouragement, that need hope …

And through the sharing of His Goodness, through the sharing of acts of kindness and love mixed with the splendour of a good God we will continue to see that …

Giving chocolate cake kisses in the midst of crisis …

Are you willing to look around you, regardless of your personal circumstances, and love another human being on purpose?

Today I was the recipient of a chocolate cake kiss.  No … not a mucky, wet chocolate cake kiss from my children, but a chocolate cake kiss from a friend, a beautiful friend who intentionally loved me regardless of being in the midst of a time of grief and sadness.

A few weeks back a friend who has a daughter at my son’s kindy received the news that both her parents had died in a car crash.  I was privileged to be available to support her and her family with some practical things … and … I was permitted to pray and release God’s love and peace more than once …

This girl is a beautiful person, kind, caring, honest, compassionate … and, in midst of her time of great grief she saw me, struggling with a nasty cold, a mess in my home from having an entire ceiling replaced in one of our rooms and fumes left by the recent painters having cleaned up the mess left by the plasterers …

She saw me, regardless of her sadness, and went back home after kindy drop off and made me a chocolate cake with her 2-year-old-son.  And so, when I dropped her delightful little girl off after kindy time she presented me with a chocolate cake gift … a chocolate cake kiss of love … for me and my family …

My friend cooked us a cake of love, a chocolate cake in the shape of a love heart with the words “with love xxx” inscribed on it …

It challenged me … and so I now challenge you

Are we, as Christ’s representatives on Earth, willing to love another, on purpose, regardless of what is happening in our own worlds …?

I have been the recipient of a kiss from God from a girl who is kind, caring and loving regardless of what is going on in her world … she has set a standard … and I believe it is one we should all aspire to … to look beyond ourselves to the one before you and see them in their need … and offer … and act for “love” is a verb, an action word after all!

And so … will you follow her lead and be a kiss of kindness in your sphere of influence?

I believe we must, and in doing so be the hands and feet of God in a hurting world … and as we do the world will see that …

God is Good!
